LMS Updates: New Features and Improved Usability for the Learning Management System

Once again, our LMS iLearn24® has received several valuable free updates, spanning all versions of the learning management system. These updates include the further transition from the classic to the "iLearn24® - Next Generation" design, the continuous development of modules and features, as well as customer requests. We always incorporate these requests into the development process and provide them to all LMS customers for free in their respective version of iLearn24® as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS).

Below, we've compiled the most relevant changes from the latest updates of the LMS modules or features for you. Information about which version of the learning management system these changes apply to can be found in parentheses or in our version overview for LMS iLearn24®.

New User Management: Better Overview, More Options

The "User Management" replaces the previous administration of personnel master data within iLearn24® (LMS Version Advanced and higher). In addition to the modern look introduced with the "Next Generation" of iLearn24®, it brings numerous new features. Advanced filter functions have been integrated, notifications can now also be sent directly from the user management to individuals, and user details such as assigned roles in the LMS are readily accessible.

The reduced user administration is still integrated as an "iFrame." It can be accessed by authorized individuals in the same menu and will also be transitioned into the new design soon.

The division into master and movement data (from LMS Version Basic) has been broken in favor of a flexibly designed division into "groups". Data fields can be divided into groups as desired and provided with different permissions for reading or editing (LMS Version Advanced and Higher, Basic via Support).

A special advantage of the update: Data fields can now be administratively transformed in type (for example, drop-down, radio button, or email). IT intervention is no longer necessary (LMS Version Advanced and Higher, Basic via Support).

User Data: Manual Creation and Improved Import/Export

During manual creation of user accounts (Advanced Version and higher), the LMS performs a background query. It checks whether the account being created already exists in the learning management system - whether it is active or deactivated. If yes, an appropriate error norification will indicate this. Deactivating users is now also available as a mass action in the LMS, in addition to through an appropriate import with the update. User data can be exported in any amount as a table from the learning management system for further use.

The administration area of the LMS for manual user data import has been transitioned into the new frontend of iLearn24® - Next Generation. There, all imports from the past are now listed and documented. In addition to a complete import of all records, updating only individual personnel master data fields is now possible (Advanced Version and higher, Basic via Support).

The documentation of successfully completed imports in iLearn24® provides a wealth of information and functions. In the learning management system under "Import Report," not only are all imported and updated users listed, but also the tables of "to be deactivated" users can be accessed and downloaded as a CSV file. Every LMS import can be archived, and the respective import settings can be viewed at any time. An execution history lists when the import into the LMS was started and successfully completed. Furthermore, the history shows how many users were imported or updated in the learning management system.

A special advantage of the update: Now there are also individual, narrower import tables - of course, you can still compile a complete table. And it's easy and secure. Because all imports are validated by the LMS before uploading. Error cases are generally highlighted and described at the beginning of the table.

The A-Z of Smaller Features: From Curricula to Target Audience

Curricula: The function to copy paths within a curriculum with all components and settings has been rolled out (LMS Version Professional and Higher).

Single User: The "Reset Certificates" function has been transitioned into the Next Generation of iLearn24® (LMS Version Professional and higher).

Homework: A sample solution for a self-study task can be deposited and displayed in the learning management system. This is for the Learner after submitting the homework and for the assessors when reviewing the submission. Self-assessment of one's own performance after submitting the respective task is now also possible (LMS Version Professional and higher).

Catalog: The catalog in the learning management system iLearn24® can now include complete curricula in addition to online courses and in-person or webinar events (LMS Version Professional and higher).

Notification Sending: All text editors for sending Notifications from the LMS iLearn24® - Next Generation have been expanded with new functions. This includes additional fonts and colors, as well as options for text alignment (LMS Version Basic and higher).

Report Generator: Virtual scrolling improves the performance of large amounts of data in the controlling area of iLearn24®. Data is not displayed graphically in its entirety, but only in the currently viewed section (LMS Version Basic and higher).

Self-Registration: The input masks for self-registration in the learning management system (e.g., for external users) can now be flexibly configured (LMS Version Advanced and higher).

Events: In the "Other" tab for events, new buttons for booking approval, for example for a classroom training, can be found. By default, all users are allowed to book newly created events in the learning management system (LMS Version Advanced and higher).

Webinar Recording: For each session of an event, there is now the new option "Recording URL" in the learning management system. Here, the link to the recording of the respective event can be stored for each session. This allows participants to access the recording through the LMS at any time after the event ends (LMS Version Advanced and higher).

Target Group: The administration of target groups in the learning management system has been transitioned into the "Next Generation" of iLearn24® (LMS Version Advanced and higher).

Assignment - Path Based on Target Group: Training assignments can now be made directly to a specific path in the curriculum solely based on belonging to a certain target group. For example, externals could be assigned a different path within the same training than internal employees (LMS Version Basic and higher).

Assignment – scheduled: Previously, path changes, for example from initial training to recurrent training in the LMS, could be achieved through extended logics around the validity date and the new "iteration". Now, the learning management system allows for another "play with time". Through the interplay of skills, curricula, and paths, a time-delayed assignment of content or a time-based path change of relative nature can now be depicted in iLearn24®. For example, during the onboarding of new employees, an automated, gradually-paced yet individually controlled assignment can take place (LMS Version Professional and higher).
